There’s a party this weekend, and your dog is invited.
On Saturday, April 25, Brother Wolf Animal Rescue and Urban Orchard Cider Co. are teaming up for a fundraiser where dogs aren’t just allowed — they’re the stars.
“We know that everyone thinks their pet is the cutest,” event organizers wrote on the Facebook event page. “But is he or she the best dressed?”
From 3-7 p.m., adoptable dogs from Brother Wolf will be wagging their tails at patrons of the cider brewery, located at 210 Haywood Road, in West Asheville. Visitors can decide to take a new friend home — or bring their own pups, dressed up in costume, for a chance to win prizes in the doggie costume contest. The contest is $5 to enter, and proceeds will go toward helping pets in need.
“Make sure to sign up for the costume contest by 5 p.m.,” writes Brother Wolf. “There are some great prizes waiting for the winner. We have lots of fun planned, and there might just be a surprise vegan treat there too.”
Ten percent of proceeds from cider sales will be donated to Brother Wolf from 3-9 p.m., so “drink up!” the animal rescue jokes.
In off-topic yet slightly related news, Urban Orchard’s outdoor green space just installed a “brand-new Eagle Nest Outfitters-sponsored chill-area” so ENO hammocks will be scattered over the premises “for your chillin’ pleasure,” the cider company writes on Facebook.
Americana, alt-country artist Billy Litz will provide visitors and their pets with live music throughout the event.
